Streams- The temperatures are in the 20’s and predicted to drop to the teens tonight. There is snow surrounding Maxwell, however that will not hurt shoreline fishing. It’s actually the first snow accumulation of the year.

The steelhead are hitting and with most people having Monday off, it’s a great time to hit the streams. Ice will probably build-up on the small Maxwell, but it’s hard to predict how much of the creek will freeze. As of this morning it is very fishable.

Use egg sacks –bright colors are the best.

Bays- Most of the bays are still open and even if sections are frozen, there is no safe ice anywhere. Don’t even attempt to walk on any ice.

It’s too cold for open water fishing, so this weekend is definitely a transition time for anglers. Go to your local tackle store and buy some stuff!

It’s the law…wear your life jackets while underway. Matter of fact; keep them on during your entire time on the water. Most of the new PFD’s fit comfortably.

Canal- The canal has a thin skim of ice. It’s just enough to hinder boat launches, but unsafe for ice fishing.
