NYS Ice Pro-Am Tournament Series
If you like fishing competition while sitting on a block of ice, there is a new contest in town. Matter of fact it’s a statewide event.
Tim and Jeff Thomas have organized an ice fishing event that will put anglers on the hard water in three separate locations in the Empire State. Dubbed the NYS Ice Pro-Am Tournament, Thomas and crew have lined-up an exciting event.
The series consists of three large ice fishing contests across the state. Chautauqua Lake is first, then to Tupper Lake and the events final tournament is at Sodus Bay.
The Thomas brothers started the hardwater event last year after they notice a lack of any ice fishing competitions state wide. “The NYS Ice Pro-Am Series was conceptualized from the lack of any substantial ice tournament series in New York,” Jeff Thomas said.
The tournament series begins at Chautauqua Lake January 18-19, 2014 then to Tupper Lake February 15-16th and ending at Sodus Bay February 22-23rd.There will be over $75,000 in cash and prizes handed out during the three part series. Anglers may fish one or all of the events.
The NYS Ice Pro-Am series mission is to provide a professionally run series of ice tournaments that have as little an impact on the fisheries as possible through catch and release practices, stimulate and support the local communities, and support organizations which help youth engaged in fishing.
