The MAC houses a large exhibit area, nature store, auditorium, meeting room, classroom and office area. On its 198 acres, there are five types of habitat, two restored freshwater marshes, two miles of trails, and an all-access observation platform. Canoes, kayaks, and snowshoes are available to access the heart of Montezuma’s wetlands, forests and grasslands. Other recreational opportunities include nature photography, cross-country skiing, fishing, picnicking, wildlife viewing and hiking. MONTEZUMA WETLANDS COMPLEX The Complex includes federally-owned Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, state-owned Northern Wildlife Management Area, land owned by private conservation organizations and private property. The MWC is an important wetland complex in the Atlantic Flyway which provides habitat for 386 species of fish and wildlife. Visitors can participate in wildlife watching, birding, hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing and trapping.
