Wayne County will celebrate 200 years in 2023 with a yearlong celebration. This historic milestone is an opportunity to explore Wayne County’s rich 200-year history, and beyond.
FEATURED EVENTS:
- April 11, 2023 – FOUNDING DAY CELEBRATION. This is the official date of Wayne County’s establishment as an independent county in New York State. There will be a ceremony in Lyons (the County Seat) to “kick off” the year-long celebration. A program and reception will be held at the Lyons Community Center.
- May 13, 2023 – WAYNE COUNTY BICENTENNIAL GALA at Carey Lake in Walworth. Stay tuned for updates on Gala Tickets and special guests.
- August 14-18, 2023 – TORCH RELAY is 5 days of runners carrying the torch approx. 40 miles per day through each Town in Wayne County. It will begin and end at the Wayne County Fair Grounds, Palmyra, NY.
- August 19, 2023 – FAMILY FUN DAY at the Wayne County Fair. Reenactments, demonstrations, historical music, displays, games, and hand-on-history will make this a day to remember for “kids” of ALL ages.
