The Little Winery on the Great Lake is a boutique winery established in 1988 located just half a mile east of the Chimney Bluffs near Sodus Bay. Here we cultivate a small acreage of grapes and handcraft them into savory wine for everyday life. Fumie Thorpe, the owner and an alumna of SUNY Oswego with a degree in meteorology with astronomy minor, offers Starry Starry Night, Stargazing, in August and September for the visitors to learn the constellations in the night sky. Sunset Tasting precedes Starry Starry Night as a prelude to Stargazing and an opportunity for wine tasting. Fumie, also a native of Tokyo, shares Eastern and Western Mythologies related to the constellations and the stars being observed during the Stargazing, and Japanese poetry on social media.
